Fear Factor - Girl Scout Style

Tonight I got to try Fear Factor. . . Girl Scout style. I was kind of freaked out and wasn't sure if I wanted to go. I remember watching the show with mom until one day she threw up. No more fear factor in our house. And now mom wants me to do it. Gross . . . why do I have to do this?

First my friend McKayla and I tried different baby foods. I hated the peas!

Then we had a been bag toss. Hey you can't go wrong there right? Wrong! Depending upon the color and number you landed on you had to eat and drink gross stuff. I got stuck eating Witches Warts (raisins), Animal Snot (mini marshmallows that were slimy from being sprayed with water), a drink of Diarrhea (lime juice with peanut candy marshmellows in it), and last but not least Cat Poopies (chocolate candy rolled in small nuts - looked like it came out of a cat box). I could not even do this one. Just the thought of it grossed me out.

Well just when you think it can't get worse it did. They had live crickets in an aquarium. I hate bugs. If you wanted a toy you had to reach for it. Mom had to bribe me by saying she would pay a couple of dollars. After about 20 minutes I finally did it. Squeeling and all. Later on I got hungry and mom told me if I did the cricket thing again that she would get me Subway. Fifteen minutes later I finally did it a second time.

When all was said and done I had fun. I don't know if I would do it again but it was fun.

National Arbor Day

National Arbor Day was different this year for us. It is not really even celebrated in our family nor is it really even mentioned. In fact I didn't even know what Arbor Day was. I kept calling it Harbor Day.
This year Mom thought it would be a good idea for me to learn about what Arbor Day is since in GS meetings we had just earned the Eco-Action badge. So when an activity came up and we were able to participate in it, we did. I was even able to bring Courtney as it was a community event.
West Haven City had a lot of trees that needed to be planted. Before we went we thought they were going to be seedlings or something small. Boy, were we wrong. These trees were big. Some were so big (like the pine trees) that they took 5 guys to bring them to a hole. Others were smaller and just a few of us could move them.
It was alot of work but at the end of the day we put about 5 trees in their holes and planted them.
We were rewarded with snacks and juice. We even received a shirt for all of our efforts. I would do this again!
